The most anticipated week of the summer is upon us, and even though the site has been around for a long time, I firmly believe this week was the reason Flickchart was invented. While we’ve been stuck with uninspired, one-sided matchups all summer: like Dinner for Schmucks vs Charlie St. Cloud, Salt vs. Ramona & Beezus, and Inception vs The Sorcerer’s Apprentice; we finally have a slobberknocker to debate. What else but Flickchart could you possibly do with your time after paying to see The Expendables and then sneaking into Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? Nothing, that’s what.

The ExpendablesTrailer

Sorry Edgar Wright, as much as I love your previous works, and as amazing as Scott Pilgrim looks; my money is going to Stallone this weekend. I already have the “man date” set up for Saturday afternoon. Call me old fashioned but I like to watch grown men with muscles and scowls beat the spit out of stuff. I haven’t even mentioned the return of Dolph Lundgren to the big screen. If there’s no DVD column next week, it’s because my brain will have melted due to how awe-inspiringly awesome The Expendables ends up being.

As a 6 ft tall, 140 pound, video game playing girly man; I’ll probably relate more to this movie than The Expendables but it still just can’t compete with Stallone. That being said, how great does this movie look? I especially love how the video game based on the movie looks.

So, how are you going to rank them?

Oh, I almost forgot, these flicks come out this week too…

Eat Pray LoveTrailer

The perfect counter programming to the week’s main releases.

Animal KingdomTrailer

This movie is getting rave reviews. How is Guy Pearce not the biggest star in the world? The man is magical.

Tales from EarthseaTrailer

Hayao Miyazaki’s son gives directing a shot. Timothy Dalton voices a character in the movie, so this is definitely a must-see.
